<p><strong>Title:</strong> PLAYING DOCTOR; PART TWO: RESIDENCY: (Blundering along with imposter syndrome)</p>
<p><strong>Author</strong>: John Lawrence</p>
<p><strong>Ready to learn how (not) to be a <u>doctor</u>?</strong></p><p><strong><br />
Well, neither was John.</strong></p><p><b><br /></b>
John’s adventures in medical training continue with this insightful,
often hilarious, self-deprecating medical memoir of bumbling into
residency with a severe case of imposter syndrome. This second part in
the series brings John’s unique, irreverent and
candid med-school storytelling to the world of residency training.</p><p><br />
Initially, John penned email blasts while being held captive on-call
nights. His descriptions of the escapades, mishaps, disorder, and terror
that surrounded his training, led several friends to enquire if he has
broken into the hospital pharmacy. Eventually, someone asked to publish
the stories, so John replied that he’d write down the whole adventure of
becoming a doctor from medical school through residency.</p>

<p>John Lawrence was born in New York, grew up England, and attended
Georgetown University where he told his career advisor that the only
thing he did not want to be was a doctor. He subsequently survived
medical school and residency training in Utah.</p>
<p>John was not the typical medical student, sneaking out of the
hospital whilst on-call to audition for television shows; writing film
scripts (also available on Amazon!) and overcoming imposter syndrome. He
went on to work as a doctor for 20 years in both traditional western
medicine and functional medicine.</p>
<p>John’s varied non-medical resume includes river rafting guide, ski
race coach, bagel baker, screenwriter, film director, and expedition
doctor climbing Kilimanjaro with Olympic Hall of Fame athlete Chris
Waddell.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Author:</strong> Katie Mettner</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Genre</strong>: Contemporary Romance / Christmas</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Actress Carrie Murray’s films are a
Christmas lover’s delight. Filled with twinkling lights, festive carols,
and happy endings, they’re the perfect escape from reality. For her <em>and </em>the audience. Then Tinseltown calls.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Braxton Timothy is Hollywood’s biggest
action star. Handsome and talented but decidedly on the naughty list, no
one can fathom his sudden desire to produce a feel-good Christmas
movie—least of all, his no-name co-star.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Alternating between scenes reminiscent
of everyone’s favorite made-for-TV movies and unexpected, off-screen
chemistry, Gingerbread Falls has surprises in store this holiday season.
The question is, will there be enough Christmas magic to convince two
imperfect people that they’re perfect for each other?</p>

<p><strong>Author</strong>: Abby Rice</p>
<p><strong>Genre</strong>: Historical Romance</p>
<p>The <em>last</em> thing Hetty Pritchard ever wanted was a husband.
Until a joke-gone-wrong lands her aboard an unfamiliar schooner headed
for Jamaica — with the Captain himself snoring in the bunk beside her.</p>
<p>Now a ruined woman, Hetty has no choice but to accept the grouchy
mariner’s reluctant solution: a temporary fake “marriage.” Purely for
show, of course.</p>
<p>And if navigating a ship-full of men, pulling off a fake relationship
with a total stranger, and making her way back home weren’t troubles
enough? Add in troubling wisps of ‘second sight.’ And an unexpected
simmering attraction to her new, fake husband.</p>
<p>A stand-alone sweet historical with touches of the paranormal, and a heart-tugging HEA ending.</p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<h3>Author Bio</h3>
<p>Adventure really ought to be my middle name. I’ve ridden
cross-country on a motorcycle; crewed on a real-life square-rigged ship;
built and rehabbed houses/apartments; and helped seek justice for crime
victims as a District Attorney.</p>
<p>Nonfiction is where I cut my writing teeth, in over 200 magazine
stories. (As you probably guessed, natural health was one of my fave
topics!) That led me into books. Take a peek at those and my rollicking
history blog on <a class="broken_link" href="http://www.iheartreading.net/book-tour/release-blitz-the-captains-kidnapped-bride/www.Clairitage.com"><em>www.Clairitage.com</em></a>.</p>
<p>These days when I’m not dreaming up new stories about heroines,
health, or history, I’m lending a hand to my garden-crazy husband, or
scanning 1860s newspapers for bits of forgotten gossip.</p>
<p>Hope you’ll give Abby Rice a quick ‘like’ on Facebook! And follow me on Goodreads (under my <em>non</em>-pen name, Karen Dustman).</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">I’ve been a storyteller all my life, building bridges into different worlds. Already in kindergarten, I’ve seen the most fantastical things and wanted to share them with everyone. My teacher called me a liar back then. Today, I call it the first real flash of my spiritual gift and the cornerstone of my writing career.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">When I got older, I’ve had many visions of a perfect career, while writing has always been more of a hobby and kind of a therapy for me when the longing for more magic in this world once again caught up with me in a crushing way. When my first book was finished, I couldn’t even imagine sharing one of my stories with others, ever. In fact, I only got used to the idea while I wrote my second book and learned in a very miraculous way where the many stories in this world really come from.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">It’s funny how, at that point, everyone told me I can’t possibly make a living with writing. They even warned me not to quit my job. But after my debut novella PLAY WITH ME came out and sales skyrocketed within the first week, I knew I could do anything I wanted if only I never stopped dreaming.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">That’s also part of what I teach my students in writing and spiritual workshops today. <em>Always dream big! If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.</em></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Some personal stuff:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">“I’m writing stories because I can’t breathe without.”</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Disney is my attitude to life, and if I could I’d save the world from itself. My Patronus is a wolf, my wand the broken twig of an apple tree, 13 ¾ inches with a unicorn hair core. I can’t deny that on some days, I prefer my book characters over real people, but there’s not a single day going by where I wouldn’t try to find magic in reality. And when I’m alone, I love to listen to the many stories of the wind in a mystic mid-summer night.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">So you see, I’m lucky enough to live in an enchanting world of my own. It’s peaceful there and full of magical things, fairies and wonders. You’re welcome to follow me there – if you’re ready to open up your mind and leave everything you learned about reality behind. But beware, if you dare to step through this door, you may never want to leave again…</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Title:</strong> A Christmas at Gingerbread Falls</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Author:</strong> Katie Mettner</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Genre</strong>: Contemporary Romance / Christmas</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Actress Carrie Murray’s films are a
Christmas lover’s delight. Filled with twinkling lights, festive carols,
and happy endings, they’re the perfect escape from reality. For her <em>and </em>the audience. Then Tinseltown calls.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Braxton Timothy is Hollywood’s biggest
action star. Handsome and talented but decidedly on the naughty list, no
one can fathom his sudden desire to produce a feel-good Christmas
movie—least of all, his no-name co-star.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Alternating between scenes reminiscent
of everyone’s favorite made-for-TV movies and unexpected, off-screen
chemistry, Gingerbread Falls has surprises in store this holiday season.
The question is, will there be enough Christmas magic to convince two
imperfect people that they’re perfect for each other?</p>

love…literally. She loves her job, and she’s good at it. Still, Gemma
has never had the opportunity to try love out for herself. There’s only
one man who’s tempted her enough to consider it, and he’s a jerk. The
sexiest jerk she’s ever met. So, why does her body come alive when she
walks into a blind date to find…him?</p><p>Fergus Digby hates incompetence. He is meticulous and runs his
company with an iron fist. Fergus is used to getting what he wants. And
he wants Gemma Davenport. Since she turned down his advances not once,
but twice, he can’t stop thinking about her. Fantasizing about having
her in his bed.</p><p>When Fergus finally gets Gemma alone, the sparks between them grow
into fireworks. Can they look past the reasons they shouldn’t be
together and embrace the once-in-a-lifetime passion they’ve ignited? Or
will their relationship go up in flames before it’s really begun?</p><p> </p><p>Purchase from <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0992PFRQP">Amazon</a></p><p>Add on <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58522442-blindsided">Goodreads</a></p><p> </p><h3>Author Bio</h3><p>Matilda is a Texas girl in love with a Philly boy who spends a lot of time in New York and Paris. Lucky me!</p><p>I live in Austin, with my husband, two crazy Chihuahuas and an even
crazier cat. And I spend most of my day writing dirty romance books
about older men who fall in love with younger women and make fools of
themselves trying to win their hearts.</p><p>If I had to describe my type of romance, I’d say I write steamy, humorous contemporary romances dipped in sugar.</p><p>If you love Dark Romance, you’ve come to the wrong place. I don’t like dark heroes.</p><p>I like my hero to be successful, sweet, suave, sophisticated and
kind— and then I want him to lose all his composure and game when he
meets the heroine. I want him to turn into a bumbling idiot when he
spots the girl of his dreams and revert to a teenage boy in a man’s body
trying to win her.</p><p>I like my heroines to be witty, intelligent, and unshakeable—who
could do just as well without a man—until the hero convinces her
otherwise.</p><p>I write A LOT OF AGE GAP–because I LOVE AGE GAP ROMANCE. I’ve got no other excuse for it.</p><p>
</p><p>No matter what kind of story it is, my ladies are ADORED, and my endings are always Happily EVER AFTER, not HFN.</p>Bookish Madnesshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17647565341237431081noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3249105124877474187.post-85084261247399799602021-06-30T20:06:00.001-07:002021-06-30T20:06:00.249-07:00Release Blast Lost on a Page<h3 style="text-align: justify;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEievsACmOz_NP_etsPgEs89ugLAb2-fKbvfg9RYia5UxgtboYfD2rQDZyT9XLZTMgtMsjczMS84x52JNSAuzw7ag67wnP1B-YppezVpg2Bo2VB6ZpOtcqLvNO-6AQO9KmJhL3tCT3Ov43Wt/s474/lostonapagerelease.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="304" data-original-width="474" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEievsACmOz_NP_etsPgEs89ugLAb2-fKbvfg9RYia5UxgtboYfD2rQDZyT9XLZTMgtMsjczMS84x52JNSAuzw7ag67wnP1B-YppezVpg2Bo2VB6ZpOtcqLvNO-6AQO9KmJhL3tCT3Ov43Wt/s16000/lostonapagerelease.jpg" /></a></div><br /><strong><br /></strong></h3><h3 style="text-align: justify;"><strong>About the Book</strong></h3><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong></strong></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVxMf6TOYRy1rJ-FlIFy0wJlnK22xlagpLRcmLr83dZKzdCrSfMmLOf_9-7i-ZXPDPz06XJ9wNi8RjdF4sz7ieASPwm0Usl_jY_yzSAaykvRDZehCpumdLlOAe7GI-hPY9ySpxl1E3HMOU/s831/Lost+on+a+Page+Cover.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="831" data-original-width="551" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVxMf6TOYRy1rJ-FlIFy0wJlnK22xlagpLRcmLr83dZKzdCrSfMmLOf_9-7i-ZXPDPz06XJ9wNi8RjdF4sz7ieASPwm0Usl_jY_yzSAaykvRDZehCpumdLlOAe7GI-hPY9ySpxl1E3HMOU/s320/Lost+on+a+Page+Cover.png" /></a></strong></div><strong><br />Title:</strong> Lost on a Page<p></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Author:</strong> David E. <div style="line-height: 150%; tab-stops: 36.0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; line-height: 150%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;">I
had a frightful dream. I was standing at the altar with my wife and 400 guests
in attendance. It seemed to be a repeat of our wedding in 1976. My now
95-year-old father performed the ceremony for my wife and me the first time around,
and that’s how old he appeared to be in this vision. He kept forgetting the
lines and was forever looking at me for support. At one point, I was
whispering, “The rings, the rings.” I kept reaching for them, but they were
disappearing before I could grab them.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="line-height: 150%; tab-stops: 36.0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; line-height: 150%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;">Albie,
my cousin and best man from my first wedding, was singing Sonny and Cher’s, <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">I Got You Babe</i>. Normally, he can’t sing
for shit, but in this scenario, he had his hand on his chest and his head back,
sounding like Luciano Pavarotti. What was this all about? </span></div>
<br />
<div style="line-height: 150%; tab-stops: 36.0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; line-height: 150%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;">My
father, the minister, wearing his trademark Champion sweatshirt, with coffee
stains on the chest portions, pronounced us man and wife. I turned to kiss my
new bride and caught a glimpse of her bridesmaid. But instead of her best
friend who was her attendant back in the day, it was Gal Godot from DC Comics
and the movies. </span></div>
<br />
<div style="line-height: 150%; tab-stops: 36.0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; line-height: 150%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;">She
was wearing her Wonder Woman garb, but she didn’t seem primed for a wedding. In
fact, she appeared to be totally shocked by the whole affair. What kind of
dream was this?</span></div>
<br />
<div style="line-height: 150%; tab-stops: 36.0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; line-height: 150%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;">My
wife and I ended the ceremony with a kiss. My mother turned to my father (who
was then in attendance in the audience) with a quizzical look and said, “Dad,
look at that bridesmaid. Isn’t that Superman?” </span></div>
<br />
<div style="line-height: 150%; tab-stops: 36.0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; line-height: 150%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;">She
was close. She doesn’t get out much.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt; tab-stops: 36.0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; line-height: 150%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;">Oh,
and then, though neither of us would be caught dead on a motorcycle, in this
weird musing, we were apparently bikers. Instead of a limousine waiting for us
at the curb, there sat a racy motorcycle with cans in tow. It looked like this
one:</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 8.0pt; tab-stops: 36.0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; line-height: 150%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;">But
before I could get on the bike, she pulled off without me, as the cans tied to
the wheels of the hot machine banged on the street, while her gown billowed in
the breeze. She had left me standing in the street like a lost soul.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="line-height: 150%; tab-stops: 36.0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; line-height: 150%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;">True<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">, </i>I shouldn’t have been drinking the
caffeinated tea before bed, but more to the point, maybe, just maybe, this
crazy vision was a warning, a forecast, an omen. Maybe it was God’s way of
telling me that Wonder Woman could show up at your wedding without even paying
her an appearance fee. Or even more to the point, perhaps it was to make me appreciate
what I have. </span></div>
<br />
<div style="line-height: 150%; tab-stops: 36.0pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; line-height: 150%; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;">What
if the unthinkable happened to my wife? What if she succumbed to a disease, or
was killed in a terrible auto accident? Or worse, what if her life were cut
short in a vicious pit bull attack? </span></div>

<strong>Author</strong>: James Robinson Jr.<br />
<strong>Genre:</strong> Non-Fiction Humor<br />
<em>Jay Got Married</em> consists of 9 humorous and, at times,
poignant essays chronicling the ironies of everyday life in word and
picture. Take for example the lead essay, aptly titled, “Jay got
Married,” where I find myself mired in a horrendous dream.<br />
In the fantasy, my aging father–dressed in his favorite Champion
t-shirt with stains covering the front–marries my wife and I like he did
42 years ago but, this time around, the my 92-year-old ex-clergy dad
forgets his lines causing me to coach him through the event with hints
like: “ask for the rings, ask for the rings.” All the while, my best man
sings Sonny and Cher’s, “I Got You Babe.”<br />
Finally married, my wife and I end the ceremony with a kiss. But as I
turn to exit, my eyes catch a glimpse of the bridesmaid who is no
longer my wife’s best friend but now Gal Gadot from <em>Dell Comics</em> and <em>Wonder Woman</em> Fame. She is dressed in full <em>Wonder Women</em> regalia and looks totally shocked by the whole affair.<br />
My mother turns to my father (now in the audience) with a quizzical
look and says, “Dad, look at that bridesmaid. Isn’t that Superman?” She
doesn’t get out much.<br />
As we exit the church, and the bubbles fill the air–no one uses rice
anymore—my wife ignores the limo and takes off on a sleek motorcycle,
leaving me in the lurch—hence the cover.<br />
Sure, it’s sounds crazy. But, in truth, isn’t the world of marriage
crazy these days? In my case, what would one do when faced with the
prospect of losing their beloved wife after 42 years? At age 67, would
they remarry? Would they even want to remarry? These and other marital
tidbits are discussed with humor and as much reverence as I could
muster.<br />
P.S. The author pairs up with <em>Wonder Woman</em> again in a final bit of photo wizardry Why? How? How are tricky copyright infringement laws avoided? Read <em>Jay Got Married</em> and find out.<br />

overcome with emotion. She looked still and peaceful and, for the first time

Most stories start at the beginning; this one begins at the end. At
least for Maria. Her sudden death sends shockwaves through her family
and pushes her grieving mother to the very brink of insanity. After
exhausting every avenue conventional medicine has to offer, Maria’s
father, Henry, brings together the world’s greatest minds in the hope of
carving out a new path. Months pass, and as Henry watches his beloved
Elena slowly drift away, he begins to lose faith. It is only then that a
solution presents itself. A discovery so momentous, it saves Elena and
reveals the most important scientific and technological breakthrough in
modern history.<br />
Silicate is founded; a privately funded facility which delves deeper
into the human mind, able to discover answers to questions we are yet to
ask. Securing Silicate’s secrets becomes of utmost importance; even
after treating hundreds of patients, the public are still unaware of the
wonders and terrifying reality Silicate has unearthed . . .<br />
The world you know is only half the story.<br />

in Derbyshire, raised in Yorkshire, resides in London, Terry learned
from a young age that he was different from his peers. He preferred the
company of girls over boys, didn’t like sports and would write at every
opportunity. He was bullied throughout his school life both physically
and verbally and had to deal with the cruelty of others from an early
age.<br />
Terry Geo wrote and directed his first play at age eleven. At
sixteen, he started work in television, writing scripts and becoming the
youngest director in the country. Terry applied for a job while taking
his final exams and started work in television the week after he
finished school. For the first time in his life, he found a world where
he could shine and be accepted for who he was. He came out as gay to his
parents the following week and never again hid his sexuality from
anyone. At seventeen he became the youngest director in the country,
producing a light entertainment show for Yorkshire Television. After a
short stint in a boyband, Terry went back to writing, editing two
national publications. He toured the world as an actor, moved to London
and in 2017, wrote and directed a musical for the London stage. A year
later, Terry married Ken, the love of his life, in London. After their
honeymoon in Thailand, he returned to a book he had started some years
before. In January 2019, his cat Megara sadly passed away. This hit
Terry hard and in memorial to her, he wrote her into the book he was
writing. She is now a part of Terry’s debut published novel, Refraction.<br />

This outlandish story begins at the crazy end of a pleasant

heat near the banks of the river that crossed their ranch. They lay in the

Nicholas's last remark felt like an unpunished mocking memory to Julian. His
heart raced and started running towards the inevitable. He felt like demanding
they forget about this shameful situation, and even more so, requiring a fair

<strong>Author:</strong> E.J. Miranda<br />
<strong>Genre:</strong> YA Fantasy<br />
It is said that dreams are just that: only dreams. But believe me,
this is not always true. Some dreams are as real as the dreamer.<br />
Thanks to their dreams, dreamers can receive the special visit of
eternal wisdom that has inspired the creativity of great inventors,
scientists, musicians, and even writers throughout the ages.<br />
This creative wisdom is not always the type that appears to the eager
conscience. Sometimes, a Defiler, a destroyer of dreams, is the one who
tries to appear before the dreamer. These creatures were once humans,
but they allowed their pain and desire for revenge to take over and seek
the same miserable fate for the one who dreams.<br />
You must not fear — Dream Guardians, also known as Kelsdrant, will
always protect the one who dreams, even with their own life. They are
people of flesh and bone, just like you and me, or at least they are on
Earth.<br />
The following story is dedicated to the fun, extravagant, and enlightening life of Julian Fox, the Dream Guardian.<br />
Be prepared, dear reader. It is time to dream, laugh, reflect, and even maybe cry.<br />
Welcome to the Land of the Wise Dreams.<br />

Miranda is an avid reader, an enthusiastic traveler, and a passionate
author. Her great sense of humor and love for nature have granted her a
rebellious writing style: her approach describes the adventures of life,
but in such a way that each reader can have an individual take on the
matter. Her inspiration comes from her curiosity about other countries’
cultures and peculiarities. A few countries in particular which spark
her curiosity are Colombia, Italy, Costa Rica, England, Belgium, Mexico,
Spain, and the United States. Her favorite places to visit are
historical sites and museums, locations that allow her to explore
important and even overlooked details. She currently lives with her
husband in Colombia, but frequently travels to Houston to visit her
daughter and son. E.J. Miranda has a degree in tax accounting, but she
prefers interacting with people to calculating their taxes. To learn

<strong>Author:</strong> Michele Sims<br />
<strong>Genre:</strong> Contemporary Romance, Suspense<br />
Miles Moore is obsessed with fire. He can’t help it—it’s in his
genes. He’s also the famous performer Ari, an international hip-hop
sensation. There are some negatives that come with fame—death threats
and life on the road among them—but there’s also a lot of good: fast
cars, fast women, international travel, and more money than he can
handle. When Bella Wahlberg joins his team as the chief of marketing,
she seems like the antithesis of what he’s looking for, so much so that
Miles dubs her Belsa the Ice Queen. It would be unprofessional for them
to get together, but more than that, she’s unavailable—and deathly
afraid of fire. But as they prepare for The Fire God Tour, Miles can
tell something is changing. Is he ready to commit himself to one woman?
Can fire and ice come together?<br />

can’t remember when I wrote my first story. We had a word processor
when I was very little. It was an archaic piece of technology with no
mouse, which meant you had to know the codes for it to work. My sister,
Judith, and I wrote several stories using this. I think one of my
stories was about a mammoth, probably during my
I-want-to-be-a-mammoth-when-I-grow-up stage.<br />
When I was a bit older, during Year 3 at Primary School, another
sister brought home several A5 grey jotters and gave one to Ginny and
Judith to plan and write their stories in. Naturally, I wanted a
notebook too, so I said I was writing a story called “The Rule of the
Unicorns”. I never finished that rather peculiar tale, but it meant I
got one of those A5 grey jotters!<br />
A good few years down the line and I’m a Primary Teacher in the
tip-top north of Scotland. To encourage a love of reading in my pupils, I
write a story with them in for their Christmas present. The first thing
they do is flick through and try and find their name – but I hope they
enjoy the story too!<br />
When I’m not teaching, I love writing, working on my allotment and
I’m crazy enough to be doing a Science degree at the same time.<br />

<strong>Author</strong>: Yoshiyuki Ly<br />
<strong>Genre:</strong> Historical Fantasy Romance<br />
<br />
Prepared to die for her country, Solaire Copeland is drafted to the Drakengard knighthood at twenty-two years old, and vows to stop running away from the one she loves. Guarding over her dark secrets in shame, she nevertheless takes a leap of faith and entrusts herself to her intelligent equal in Stella Azrith, an alluring, measured, and methodical young woman of magic. Solaire elevates her love for Stella in romantic showmanship and subservience, even as the two of them struggle to understand one another through their temperamental differences. <em>Anathema </em>is a historical fantasy romance that tells the tale of Solaire and Stella’s courtly relationship in their youth, as they grow into their characters—Archangel Vespair and Mistress Fury—from <em>The Scorpion’s Empress</em>,<em> Venus and Lysander</em>, and <em>Black Waltz</em> as a prequel to the existing trilogy.
Desperate to keep Solaire at home, Stella conspires to prevent her from getting sent off to fight in an unjust war for their country, the Monomyth of Astora. In her scheming at the highest levels of government, she forms an unstable alliance with Fey Murasaki, the wicked and wily ambassador from Astora’s closest foreign ally. Stella and Fey’s influence across the land slithers in the darkness while Solaire’s knightly powers shine to alarming levels in the light, causing them to become targets—for both good and ill—of the nation’s most powerful leaders. Through intensifying mortal perils, Solaire’s love for Stella deepens to maddening levels, restrained only by her distinct sense that her free will erodes more each time she kneels in fulfilling servitude.
Independent streaks contradict religiosity in service of loving a woman with a will so strong—Solaire bears both the light and the dark of enlightened empathy and burning hatred, with her secrets fueling her rise as the strongest knight of an age.

<strong>Genre:</strong> New Adult Romance<br />
Risking Forever: Vol 1 (The Forever Series) by Tara Gallina<br />
My best friend has been obsessed with Sebastian since our freshman
year in college. She wants him to herself, which is fine by me. He’s a
paycheck, a means to an end goal. He’s temporary. But he’s also
tempting—the way he looks at me, the things he says, the way he touches
me… If I’m not careful, I might do something I’ll regret. ~Ainsley Belle<br />
THE FOREVER SERIES<br />
At twenty, Ainsley knows it’s time to follow her own dreams and not the
future her that was planned for her—a future she never wanted. Losing
her job couldn’t have come at a worse time.<br />
Sebastian Gianni isn’t the ideal boss, but he has a position to fill and
Ainsley is desperate. The sexy twenty-two-year-old comes from money,
owns a successful business, and graduates from college in three months.
He has his life together in a way Ainsley could only dream.<br />
No wonder her best friend is obsessed with dating him. Even his
ex-girlfriend is determined to get him back, although threatening him
seems like the wrong approach. Ainsley would be a fool to fall for the
guy, too.<br />
By no means, should she trust him. He has more secrets than anyone she
knows, which makes her wonder if the mafia rumors about him are true. It
doesn’t matter that he’s a good listener, and sweet and protective at
times. That playful flirty side he shares with her alone means nothing.
Right?<br />
When a kiss turns into a secret romance neither can give up, Ainsley
learns the truth about Sebastian’s corrupt family and why his
ex-girlfriend won’t go away. A future together is near impossible and
comes with a risk that could get them both killed—or give them
everything they’ve ever wanted.<br />

<strong>Title:</strong> Crystal and Flint<br />
<strong>Author</strong>: Holly Ash<br />
<strong>Genre:</strong> Science Fiction<br />
<br />
It’s been 300 years since humans arrived on Neophia and the planet’s
intelligent species have yet to agree on how much influence humans and
their advanced technology should have on the planet. With the threat of
war hanging in the air, Lieutenant Commander Crystal Wolf races to
finish construction of the mega submarine, <em>Journey</em>, in order to calm political tensions on Neophia and cement her already stellar military career.<br />
Lieutenant Desiree Flint never dreamed she would leave Earth to serve
on Neophia, but with the end of her military career in sight she
doesn’t see a way around it. Determined to rebuild her reputation on
Neophia, no matter the cost, she sets her sights on dethroning Commander
Wolf in order to prove her own superiority.<br />
When <em>Journey</em> is attacked by someone from Crystal’s past, the
two women must find a way to work together to save the ship, liberate
an underwater colony from an oppressive government, and prevent a war.<br />

<br />
<b>Review: </b>Crystal is amazing! I loved her from the start. Desiree Flint on the other hand, I didn't have such an immediate connection to her, but after a while, I kind of started to understand her personality after a few chapters. The concept is really intriguing: humanity has arrived on the planet Neophia already 3 centuries ago, but they still haven't quite settled in and war is looming over mankind. Crystal and Flint start out as enemies first, with Flint wanting to dethrone Crystal as commander, but circumstances force them to work together. Lots of emotions, excellent writing and loved the unique setting.Bookish Madnesshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17647565341237431081noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3249105124877474187.post-5621720541616638992019-03-25T11:09:00.003-07:002019-03-25T11:09:42.127-07:00Book Review The Sanctity of Sloth<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
There’s one thing more dangerous than testifying to a crime—staying silent.</div>
<div>
Locked in the ruins of a California Mission, Abby Travers watches
helplessly as a girl dies outside her window. As she struggles between
her moral obligation to come forward as a witness, and her commitment to
a Medieval religious practice that requires her to retreat from the
world, the situation spins out of control.</div>
<div>
Abby’s hesitation starts a series of catastrophes. She finds herself at
the center of a deadly cover up where every minute counts and indecision
could be fatal. She questions all her beliefs and everyone she knows
becomes suspect. To save herself and those she loves, she must break
free from her self-imposed prisons of stone and fear.</div>
<div>
The Sanctity of Sloth is a taut, psychological thriller that answers the
question: What happens when a good woman does nothing? Fans of Paula
Hawkins and A.J. Finn will enjoy this third book in Greta Boris’s Seven
Deadly Sins Series.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The Sanctity of Sloth" was an emotional read for me, because I recognized a lot of features of myself in Abby Travers, the protagonist of the story. In the face of tragedy, Abby is the person who tends to focus inward rather than outward, who keeps her feelings bottled up, and who finds herself isolated without even realizing it until the isolation has already happened. This connection made the book quite personal for me, but even without it, I would've enjoyed the story: suspenseful, thrilling, it it has all the elements of an excellent mystery novel. </div>

book author Caldric Blackwell first realized he loved reading when he
read about a bunch of people (with single-syllable names) and their pets
(also with single-syllable names) in kindergarten. From that point on,
he was nearly inseparable from books.<br />
His interest in reading culminated in him studying English at the
University of California, Santa Barbara. Exposure to a host of great
authors inspired him to begin writing fiction and started his journey to
becoming a children’s book author. Although he began writing short
stories for adults, he was drawn to the whimsical, imaginative nature of
children’s literature and began working on his first book for children.<br />
Blackwell’s debut work is an adventure-filled early chapter book,
titled “The Enchanted River Race,” which follows a team of children as
they compete in a river race. His next release is the beautifully
illustrated picture book “The Boy Who Couldn’t Cry Wolf,” which revolves
around a young werewolf who is self-conscious about his inability to
howl.<br />
His most recent work is the two-part Young Alchemist series, which is
targeted at a middle grade audience. The first book in the series, “The
Missing Alchemist,” follows alchemy student Craig Pike and clever
archer Audrey Clife as they travel across mysterious lands and battle
other-worldly creatures in a quest to rescue a famous alchemist. The
second book in the series, “The Sacred Artifact,” centers on Craig’s
attempt to uncover the secrets of a mysterious artifact, which entails
journeying to the birthplace of alchemy to seek the advice of a
mysterious, ancient alchemist.<br />
Outside of reading and writing, children’s book author Caldric
Blackwell enjoys jiu jitsu, gardening, and playing bass and guitar. He
currently resides in Southern California.<br />

<br />
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px 28.33px;">
<span lang="EN-GB" style="margin: 0px;">From his early
years growing up in the unspoilt countryside of Brabant to his last years at
the Saint-Paul asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, van Gogh was drawn to
the natural landscape.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px 28.33px;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px 28.33px;">
<span lang="EN-GB" style="margin: 0px;">In a letter to
his brother Theo, for instance, Vincent wrote “Sometimes I long so much to do
landscape, just as one would for a long walk to refresh oneself, and in all of
nature, in trees for instance, I see expression and a soul, as it were.”</span></div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px 28.33px;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px 28.33px;">
<span lang="EN-GB" style="margin: 0px;">But to van Gogh,
the vivid vistas he captured on canvas were more than mimesis;, more than an
earnest homage to the beauty of nature. There is a deeper psychological aspect
to these works which mirror the mind of the artist, and which speak to us of
his emotional and spiritual state.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px 28.33px;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px 28.33px;">
<span lang="EN-GB" style="margin: 0px;">Though he was
the quintessential tortured soul, the landscape – be it natural or man-made; a
town, city or field – offered a kind of maternal womb that he could retreat to,
and which imbued him with hope in the face of otherwise suffering or violence. </span></div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px 28.33px;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px 0px 0px 28.33px;">
<span lang="EN-GB" style="margin: 0px;">The landscape
was rich in moods and emotions, which he observed with the assiduous eye of an
impressionist but transformed with his introspective boldness. His surroundings
were moments to decipher and through which to probe his feelings. The emotional
resonance of such works as <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Starry Night </i>–
one of his best known and most popular pieces of art – express this synthesis
between the inanimate and anima perfectly. Painted while resident at a mental
hospital in Saint-Rémy-de-Provenc in 1889, the clear, star-lit sky can be
viewed as an expression of the artist’s faith in the overarching peace of the
universe and as an escape – if only temporarily – from the mental shackles that
weighed so heavily upon him.</span></div>

Title</div>
</strong>: Vincent Van Gogh: The Ambiguity of Insanity<br />
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px;">
</div>
<strong>Author:</strong> Giuseppe Cafiero<br />
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px;">
</div>
An abrasive itinerary of the presence of women, the landscape and
obsession. Such are the internal paradigms that went through the
compelling life of the Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh.<br />
<div style="margin: 0px;">
</div>
Not flesh and blood women, but the woman as a guide: Mrs. Jones, the
woman as a mother; Kee Vos; Christine Hoornik of Siena; Margot Begemann.
The Portrait-women such as Augustine Roulin and Madame Ginoux. And then
the backgrounds, endless, unforgettable in this genius’s works:
Isleworth, Amsterdam, le Borinage, Arles, St. Remy, Auvers-sur-Oise,
where Vincent van Gogh spent his life trying to capture the colors, the
atmosphere, the light.<br />
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px;">
</div>
The pain of finitude and his obsession with achieving redemption
through art, with intimate and stormy religiosity, with brotherly love,
with the French noon sun and, in short, with death. A hard-working and
unwavering life where art interacted, in a painful gesture, with the
iron will of a hand that never lost its way.<br />
<br />
<div style="margin: 0px;">
</div>
The life of a beloved and devoted man, silenced by the anguish and
despair of creation, who could only find peacefulness when he found his
own death.<br />
<br />

Vincent Van Gogh: the Ambiguity of Insanity is a fictionalized
biography and gripping novel of the life of the Nineteenth-Century Dutch
painter Vincent van Gogh. The author, Giuseppe Cafiero, draws a
psychological portrait of the Post-Impressionist painter through the
women that marked his life and the cities in which he lived.</span>
